One trivia night per week doesn’t always cut it, so this week we headed to Rocks in Lincoln Park for a second dose of trivia. We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: you’ve got to arrive early to play at Rocks. Trivia starts at 8, but if you aren’t there by 7ish, you probably won’t be playing. Because of our tardiness, we were lucky to snag the last table–a tiny one in the corner by the bags arcade game. Congrats to TIM, by the way, who is totally dominating the scores.
Trivia is played in 6 rounds and consists of your pretty standard topics: general knowledge, pop culture, music. We must admit, Rocks has one of the best music rounds we’ve seen (or heard). The songs are great (this week we took a tour through the 80s) and the host doesn’t play too long of a clip. We HATE that.
The best part of Rocks is the specials. Since you pretty much have to get off work and then head to the bar, half priced appetizers and bottles of wine help you stay full and satisfied as you wait…and wait…for trivia to start. We had some wings and fried macaroni squares and a bottle of wine. And even though they aren’t on special, we also had a couple of PBRs (because they are special to us).

So refreshing!
Rocks is like the Chilis of trivia bars. Good times, reasonably priced, plenty of fried cheese on the menu, but nothing to write home about. Still, if you are in the neighborhood around 7, why not try and snag a table. Even if you don’t want to play trivia, you could probably sell your table to a team that does.
